Cancelling a SpiceMatch subscription is easy, and we mean it: cancelling is at least as simple as signing up. There are two ways to do it, and your access runs to the end of the period you already paid for. Here is the whole process.

Two ways to cancel

You can cancel either:

  1. In the app. Go to Account, then Settings, then Subscriptions, then Cancel. That is the full path. A couple of taps and you are done.
  2. Through the payment processor. Use the processor's 24/7 self-service portal to cancel directly. This is useful if you are having trouble getting into the app for any reason.

Both methods stop the recurring charge. Pick whichever is easier for you in the moment.

What happens to your access

When you cancel, you keep your benefits until the end of the billing period you already paid for. You are not cut off the instant you cancel. If you cancel mid-month, you keep access through the date your current period ends, then no more charges hit and access drops to the free tier.

So there is no reason to wait until the last day to cancel. Cancel whenever you decide, and you still get the time you paid for.

Per-character versus platform plans

The cancel path is the same for both. If you hold a per-character subscription and a platform plan, those are separate subscriptions, so cancel each one you want to stop. Cancelling a platform plan does not touch a per-character sub, and the other way around.

What cancelling does not do

A few things cancelling does not affect:

  • Your credits. Unspent credits stay in your account. Credits are a one-time purchase, not part of the subscription, so they are not cancelled or refunded when you stop a plan.
  • Your account. Cancelling a subscription does not delete your account. You keep your login, your matches, and your companions' memory, just on the free tier. To remove the account entirely, see delete your account.
  • Past charges. Cancelling stops future charges. It does not refund the current period, since you keep access for it.

If a charge hit after you cancelled

If you cancelled and a renewal charged anyway, that is a billing error worth fixing. Contact support with the date you cancelled and the charge date. See refunds and failed generations for what qualifies and how to reach support.

Re-subscribing later

If you cancel and want to come back, you can re-subscribe any time from the account area. Your companions kept their memory while you were on the free tier, so you pick back up right where you left off. You will see the current price at checkout before you confirm.
