Age verification & safety
Why SpiceMatch is 18+
SpiceMatch is an adult platform with adult content, so it is restricted to adults. You must be 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher. There are no exceptions. This page explains the age rule, how it is enforced, and what happens at the edges.
The basic rule
To use SpiceMatch you must be 18 or older, or older if the age of majority where you live is higher than 18. At sign-up everyone confirms their date of birth and acknowledges that the service contains adult content. No adult content shows before you pass that gate.
This is not a soft suggestion. Accounts found to belong to minors are terminated.
Why the age floor exists
SpiceMatch hosts adult content, including sexual imagery of fictional adult characters. That content is for adults. The 18+ rule protects minors from seeing it and keeps the platform compliant with the laws that govern adult services. It also reflects the rules of the payment networks we use, which require adult merchants to gate content by age.
Two layers of age checking
There are two layers, and which apply depends on where you are:
- Date of birth at sign-up. Everyone does this, everywhere. You confirm you meet the age requirement before any adult content shows.
- Commercial age verification, where required. In US states and countries whose laws require a commercial age check, there is an extra verification step through a third-party provider before adult content is viewable. We determine your jurisdiction from your IP address so the right rule applies.
If you are not in a region that requires the extra step, the date-of-birth confirmation is all you do. If you are, see how age verification works.
Why some regions need more
Age-verification laws vary by place, and they have been changing fast. Several US states and some countries now require commercial sites with adult content to verify age beyond a self-reported birth date. We follow the law of the jurisdiction you are in, which is why a friend in another state might see a verification step you do not. See why some states require verification.
Where we cannot comply, we restrict
If we cannot meet a region's age-assurance law, we block that region rather than operate out of compliance. The United Kingdom is blocked at the network level today under the Online Safety Act, and we will reopen it once an Ofcom-recognized method is integrated.
No working around it
Using a VPN, proxy, or location spoofing to dodge verification or a regional block is against our terms. The age rule is not a formality to route around. It is the line that keeps the platform legal and keeps minors out.
Every character is an adult too
The 18+ rule applies to you, and it applies to the characters. Every companion is a fictional adult, with age enforced as a database constraint set to 18 and up. Requests for childlike depictions or "barely legal" framing are blocked, and our classifier judges the depiction, not any disclaimer in a prompt. See content policy and safety.
