Before ending the first chat, make a small fictional plan together: choose a bookstore for an imaginary Sunday outing. On your next visit, ask what you planned.

Look for the actual detail in the answer. A friendly greeting doesn't tell you whether the plan was recalled. If the answer is wrong, correct it and see what happens when the topic returns.
