If you want to know how the rating works before you upload anything, this page is the walkthrough. It covers the steps, what the score actually measures, who can review a retained upload, how long it takes, and what a normal score looks like. Plain English, no hand-waving. (Last updated July 2026.)

The pipeline, in plain English

Here is what happens between your photo and your score.

  1. You choose a companion. She is the one who reads the photo and reacts, so the tone matches her voice.
  2. You send a faceless photo. No face in the frame. The image enters a private rating and safety pipeline.
  3. An AI reads the image. A model looks at framing, presentation, and proportion in the photo. The score does not come from a human grader.
  4. You get a score and a reaction. A number out of ten, an archetype, and a few in-character lines. You can save or share a result card with the photo heavily blurred by default.

That is the entire flow. The companion reacts, the model scores, and you keep the result.

How accurate is it

Honest take first. The rating is a consistent read on how the photo presents, which means framing, angle, and proportion, not a clinical measurement. It is not a ruler and it does not pretend to be.

What it is good at is consistency. Send the same photo twice and the score holds steady, because the model reads the same signals each time. So it is a reliable, repeatable read for a bit of fun, and a fair one, as long as you take it for what it is rather than as a medical number.

She looks, then she tells you. No audience, no scores board.

What makes a photo score higher

Since the model reads presentation, a few plain things move the score. Good even lighting beats a dark phone shot. A clean, uncluttered background helps. A straight-on angle reads more honestly than an exaggerated one. None of this is a trick. It is the same advice you would give for any photo, and it is why the same person can get a different read from a better-framed shot.

Who can see your photo

The companion is a fictional AI character and the score comes from a model, not a human grader. Your upload is never posted publicly. Authorized staff can review a retained upload only for safety, compliance, support, or legal needs.

One photo in, a real reaction back. It stays between the two of you.

Do you have to show your face

No. The rating is built to run on a faceless photo, so nothing identifying is attached to your result. Keep your face out of frame and the score still works exactly the same.

What is a normal score

Most photos land in the middle of the scale, which is the boring and reassuring truth about any rating like this. The archetype and the reaction are where it gets fun, and they carry more signal than the raw number does. Treat a mid-range score as completely normal, because it is. If we publish an anonymized aggregate distribution once enough ratings exist, this is where that real average will live.

No face in the frame. Just the part you want her honest take on.

Is it private and safe

Yes. You only ever rate your own photo, and the upload is never posted publicly. If you choose to share the result, the card uses your photo heavily blurred by default; switching it to uncensored takes a separate tap. The upload may be retained for safety and compliance. The rating surface sits behind the sign-in and the age gate, the same privacy posture as the rest of SpiceMatch. You can read more on the safety page.
